Elevate your space with the charm and serenity of natural-looking faux stone art

There are many kinds of rocks on our planet—varied in color, type, and size—some beautiful and others unique. Landscaping and decorative design often use stone as an element to create a more natural overall atmosphere. But why is it that many places do not use real stone? Let’s analyze and explain the main reasons why most people choose to decorate spaces with artificial stone sculptures instead.

What is artificial stone?

Artificial stone is a man-made material created for construction and decorative purposes as a substitute for natural stone. It is lighter in weight, easier to move and transport, and faster to install than real stone. In addition, the materials, shapes, and colors can be customized to suit specific design requirements.

What is artificial stone made of?

Today, artificial stone is commonly produced using two main techniques:

Concrete-based technique:
Made from cement and sand, mixed with oxide pigments to resemble natural stone.

Key features: Strong, durable, resistant to sun and rain. Commonly used for decorative walls or outdoor sculptures.

Resin-based / Engineered Stone technique:
Made from natural stone powder (such as quartz or marble) mixed with resin and bonding agents.

Key features: Smooth, non-porous surface with excellent water resistance. Commonly used for countertops or finely detailed sculptures.

Upon entering a hotel, the first thing you notice isn’t just the aesthetics, but the ‘ambience’ that invites pure relaxation. Object Nine designs artificial stone sculptures that capture the true essence of natural stone—evoking warmth, harmony, and a deep connection to nature. We elevate the hotel’s atmosphere, creating a luxurious, unique, and unforgettable first impression.

Our sculptures are perfect for grand lobbies, hallways, dining areas, kids’ clubs, or relaxation zones. They serve as stunning visual focal points without the high maintenance of natural stone. Durable, lightweight, and quick to install, they are the perfect blend of form and function.

Why not use natural stone?

Natural stone is often more expensive than alternative materials and is very heavy, making transportation and installation difficult. It requires strong structural support and highly skilled specialists, which increases labor costs. Maintenance is also more challenging, as some types of stone absorb water easily and are prone to staining, requiring surface sealing and regular care. In addition, natural stone is susceptible to water marks, oil stains, and scratches, has limitations in color and pattern consistency due to its natural variation, and can be brittle when subjected to impact.

In contrast, artificial stone sculptures are designed to delicately capture the beauty of nature. Made from fiberglass or cement-based materials with highly realistic textures, they convey a sense of warmth, calmness, and uniqueness, creating an impressive first impression. Their natural-looking surfaces add depth to hotel interiors, making every space feel luxurious yet soft, and blending seamlessly with lighting and surrounding décor.

Can artificial stone be installed in water?

Water parks, artificial seas, and artificial waterfalls mostly choose artificial stone over natural stone for the reasons mentioned above. These types of installations require ongoing maintenance, and sometimes the structures need to be lifted or moved—whether for factory repairs or site adjustments—making weight a critical factor.

Although natural stone is strong, it is extremely heavy, and once damaged, it is difficult to repair it to look as good as new. Additionally, artificial stone is much easier to drill or customize, allowing for water jets, spray systems, or underwater lighting to be installed more conveniently.

In enclosed buildings or simulated environments.

For shops, homes, or buildings—spaces we use every day—it’s undeniable that overly plain structures can make the atmosphere feel dull and lifeless. Therefore, when designing a natural-looking landscape, in addition to trees, flowers, or artificial grass, one important element that should not be overlooked is artificial stone.

When creating artificial cave stone walls in a water park, in addition to beauty and strength, it is also important to consider exposure to water, algae, and mold caused by moisture.
