WHY DO SOME SCULPTURES COST SO MUCH MORE? THE HIDDEN FACTORS BEHIND THE PRICE

When people look at a sculpture, they often compare it with another and ask: “Why does this piece cost so much more when they look similar?” At first glance, the price difference may seem mysterious or even unfair. But the truth is, a sculpture’s value goes far beyond surface appearance.
Behind every piece, there are hidden factors—materials, craftsmanship, engineering, durability, uniqueness, and artistic vision—that all contribute to its final price. At Object Nine, we believe it’s important to help clients and art enthusiasts understand these invisible elements that make one sculpture far more valuable than another.
1.MATERIAL QUALITY
Premium materials such as stainless steel, bronze, brass, or advanced fiberglass composites add significant value. These materials not only enhance appearance but also ensure that the sculpture can withstand harsh weather, time, and physical impact. Cheaper materials may reduce upfront costs but can deteriorate, discolor, or even break down quickly—leading to higher replacement or repair expenses.

2.CRAFTSMANSHIP & EXPERTISE
A sculpture is not a mass-produced item—it is the result of human skill, precision, and artistry. Experienced sculptors and artisans spend years mastering techniques that allow them to create complex, detailed, and perfectly finished works. The more intricate the design, the more hours and expert hands are needed. This labor of skill and dedication naturally adds to the final cost.
3.SIZE AND STRUCTURAL COMPLEXITY
Scale matters. A small decorative piece may take days to complete, while monumental public sculptures can require months of planning, multiple teams, and engineering expertise. Larger and more complex works demand more raw materials, stronger foundations, transportation logistics, and installation planning—all of which significantly increase costs.

4.DURABILITY & LONG - TERM MAINTENANCE
A sculpture is often expected to last decades, sometimes even centuries. High-end works are designed not just to look impressive but also to stand the test of time with minimal upkeep. Sculptures created with advanced protective coatings or weather-resistant finishes may cost more upfront but will save owners from costly restorations in the future.

5.ARTISTIC VALUE & UNIQUENESS
Beyond the technical aspects, art carries emotional and cultural weight. Some sculptures are completely one-of-a-kind, signed by renowned artists, or infused with deep symbolic meaning. This uniqueness makes them irreplaceable. Unlike mass-produced decor, these works hold long-term cultural and financial value, elevating them into true investments.

The inspiration comes from the world-famous Apollo Fountain at Versailles, where Apollo represents the Sun King, Louis XIV. Apollo, as the god of the arts, the sun, and healing, symbolizes power, reason, and peace. For Louis XIV, Apollo was not just a mythological figure but a reflection of his own reign as a patron of the arts and a peacemaker. The rising of Apollo’s chariot became an allegory for the king’s glory, forever tied to the brilliance of the sun.
In reimagining this legendary fountain, Object Nine combined the noble material of brass with historical meaning and modern craftsmanship, creating a piece that elevates the identity of Narasiri Victoire while honoring the rich legacy of European artistry.
